What I do?

My work falls into two main categories, ‘People & Pets’ and ‘Everything Else’.

‘People and Pets’

This can be groups or individuals (human or not!) and can be inside or outside. I also undertake dance photography, either for individuals, Dance Schools, for example shooting their performances or producing images for their programs, and Festivals.

All of my photography is shot on location, which for my landscape work is plainly obvious, but not necessarily so for the portraits, groups etc. So how does this work?

Well I come to you, either by setting up a studio style environment within your own home or other suitable location (such as a village hall), or by shooting in a ‘lifestyle’ manner, which essentially means taking the photographs in a natural setting.

Lifestyle photography can be inside or outside; for example, you might prefer a woodland setting, park, your own garden or virtually anywhere that access is permitted. All of the images shown on this web site have been shot on location and not in a studio.

‘Studio Style Photography’ is achieved by setting up portable lighting and backgrounds within a suitable room of the chosen venue, which normally takes about 20 minutes to set up and take down. The space required will be dependent on the style of photographs required and numbers to be photographed. Simple headshots can be accommodated in any reasonable space, but for most shoots an area of at least 11 foot x 13 foot, clear of furniture, is preferable. Though the more space the better, as this provides greater opportunities! Dance Photography will obviously require more space.

Should an alternative venue other than your home be required, the booking and related charges will be the responsibility of the client.

I am happy to discuss your requirements further if required. I want to be certain that you get the most out of your session.

‘Everything Else’

I undertake landscape and product style photography both as commissions and also for my own personal pleasure.

My images have been used by commercial companies, schools etc, for such things as wall art within their buildings, by the National Archives and also within national and local newspapers and magazines.

Below is an example of one of my images, a multi shot stitched panorama of the Deep and Tidal Barrier, Hull, East Yorkshire. Printed to over 10 metres. It was used by Enigma Graphics, Hessle, to form the backdrop for a full length wall display for one of their commercial clients.
